UBC elective student in Hong Kong
“I heard about CU Medicine from a classmate who came back to Hong Kong to study. I find this to be a great opportunity to compare the different medical systems and education styles between Canada and Hong Kong, which is more British influenced.”
With a particular interest in intensive care, student Simon Lai of University of British Columbia chose to attach to our Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care for his month-long elective exchange. During this time, he participated in lectures and ward rounds, getting to experience a different style of teaching, which in his views, is more structured as compared to that at home. On his free time, he took the opportunity to rediscover his hometown, which he left many years ago.
