Event Highlights

The Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Sharing Session themed “When the Anesthesia Machine Lacks an Oxygen Mask,” co-organized by MSF Hong Kong and CUHK Faculty of Medicine, drew an overwhelming response, with approximately 60 medical alumni and students participating. The session offered a unique platform to share insights into humanitarian work and the experiences of professionals operating in some of the most challenging environments worldwide. 

On 15 November 2025, the CUHK Medical Alumni Association (CUHKMAA) hosted its Annual General Meeting and Dinner, bringing together approximately 40 passionate alumni to celebrate the vibrant spirit of the medical community. The event commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Shannon CHAN (MBChB 2007), President of CUHKMAA, who shared a comprehensive review of the association’s key activities and initiatives over the past year, emphasizing the importance of strengthening alumni connections.

Around 400 medical alumni and freshmen came together at the CU Medical Alumni Buddy Programme – O Camp Gathering with CU Medic Buddies on 16 August 2025 to celebrate the fascinating medical journey of our freshmen!

The 9th CUHK Medical Alumni Association (CUHKMAA) Programme - SFL Intern Survival Workshop took place on 25 June 2025. Since its inception in 2017, the workshop has garnered positive feedback from medical interns. Participants benefited from insights on preparing for housemanship, effective communication with fellow healthcare professionals, and relaxation techniques such as mindfulness.

On 18 January 2025, the Faculty of Medicine at CUHK hosted a remarkable Medical Alumni Homecoming Day, followed by a Poon Choi Dinner, which brought together around 500 alumni and their families to relive cherished memories and share moments of joy at the CUHK campus.

On 31 August 2024, the CUHK Medical Alumni Association (CUHKMAA) held its Annual General Meeting and Dinner, attracting around 50 enthusiastic attendees to celebrate the medical community's spirit. The evening began with a warm welcome from Dr. Shannon CHAN (MBChB 2007), President of CUHKMAA, who provided an insightful overview of the association's key events and initiatives from the past year, emphasizing the importance of fostering connections within the alumni network.

Around 370 medical alumni and freshmen came together at the CU Medical Alumni Buddy Programme - O Camp Gathering with CU Medic Buddies on 17 August 2024 to celebrate the fascinating medical journey of our freshmen!

The 8th CUHK Medical Alumni Association (CUHKMAA) Programme - SFL Intern Survival Workshop was held on 26 June 2024 with more than 70 participants. The workshop has been well-received by medical interns since its launch in 2017. The workshop offered participants tips and advice on preparing for housemanship, communicating effectively with other healthcare practitioners, and practicing relaxation techniques like mindfulness.

The 7th CUHK Medical Alumni Association (CUHKMAA) Programme - SFL Intern Survival Workshop was held on 28 June 2023 with more than 60 participants. The workshop has been well-received by medical interns since its launch in 2017. The workshop offered participants tips and advice on preparing for housemanship, communicating effectively with other healthcare practitioners, and practicing relaxation techniques like mindfulness.

On 17 March 2023, the ‘Crash Course on Final Exam Med 6’ also moderated by Dr. Bonita LAW was held at Shaw Auditorium, Postgraduate Education Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital. Around 120 MBChB Year 6 students attended the workshop.

On 24 November 2022, ‘Career Decision Workshop’ also moderated by Dr. Bonita LAW was held at Kai Chong Tong, Postgraduate Education Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital. It was aimed at helping Year 4 to Year 6 medical students map out their future career in the medical field, covering tips on job applications and interviews and training experience.

About 100 CUHK medical students had the opportunity to meet and learn from CUHK medical alumni during the workshop themed ‘How I Survive My Internship and Find My Desired Post?’ on 7 October 2022. During the Career Talk, moderated by Dr. Bonita LAW (MBChB 1992) from the Union Hospital’s Breast Centre, students gained career readiness insights and advices from guest speakers who are currently practicing in various institutions. Students were also briefed on the training programme and its selection criteria.

With the COVID-19 pandemic going on, the 7th O-Camp Gathering with Medic Buddies was held in small groups on 18 August 2022. The Faculty’s latest incoming class of MBChB students joined the O-Camp as they embarked on their journey as budding medical practitioners.

The 6th SFL Intern Survival Workshop was held by the CUHK Medical Alumni Association (CUHKMAA) on 29 June 2022 as a hybrid event with lectures in physical format and supplemented with Zoom Webinar, with more than 160 participants. The workshop has been well-received by medical interns since its launch in 2017.
