Delegates from the University of California, San Diego
On 3 July 2024, a delegation from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) visited CU Medicine. The UCSD representatives included Dr Pradeep K. Khosla, Chancellor; Dr William C. Mobley, Distinguished Professor of Neurology; and Ms Whitney Nifong Egan, Senior Executive Director of Development, Health Sciences Advancement. They met a team of CU Medicine representatives including Professor Philip Chiu, Dean of CU Medicine; Professor Timothy Kwok, S.H. Ho Professor of Geriatric Medicine; and Dr Owen Ko, Assistant Dean (Research).
Prior to the meeting, UCSD delegation visited Laboratory for Neuroscience and Laboratory for Cellular Signalling guided by Dr Owen Ko and Dr Xiaodong Liu.
Last June, Dr Mobley and Ms Egan visited CUHK and expressed a keen interest on developing potential partnerships with CU Medicine in the areas of aging, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. This meeting helped further the discussion on the potential collaborations between the two institutions.
As a token of appreciation, Professor Chiu presented a hand-painted fan to Dr Khosla. This symbolises the deep connection between CU Medicine and University of California, San Diego.
