Beyond saving lives in hospitals, doctors transform the world in different ways too. CU Medicine believes students should use their university years not only to learn medicine, but also to explore their potential and develop as human beings and citizens. CU Medicine is a transformational journey made richer for students willing to engage in university life, volunteer for community services and explore alternative interests.
Unique and Vibrant College Life
CUHK offers a unique college system that allows for close interaction with teachers and the opportunity to meet your peers from around the world.
Our 9 colleges, each operating under a unique philosophy offer students the opportunity to enrich their university life with activities like overseas exchange, student visitor programmes, seminars, mentorship and community service programmes and training in languages, IT and leadership.
Featuring their own hostels, each college is also the centre of a thriving community for students to meet new friends and develop their confidence and sense of social responsibility.
Community Services: Here and abroad
At CU Medicine, we encourage everyone to join one of our several programmes tailored to help them develop into a caring healthcare worker while helping our society’s most vulnerable.
Locally, students can volunteer for the Health Exhibition and help to deliver free health services to the public. Students may also take part in community services abroad to deliver health advice in remote areas. You may also create your own project to alleviate different health problems.
Associations & Activities
Students looking to develop leadership skills, tackle issues they care about or simply expand horizons can choose to join one of the many student-led groups, societies and associations on campus.
Libraries, Cultural and Sports Facilities
CUHK offers a comprehensive selection of world-class libraries, cultural and athletic facilities that make academic life here convenient, inspirational and pleasurable.
University Library
The University Library System is home to one of Hong Kong's strongest and most comprehensive collections of books, journal papers and other academic resources. The University Library is the largest of all the CUHK libraries with extensive collections across all disciplines and more than 2,400 study seats and 230 computer terminals. It plays a crucial role in connecting CUHK users to scholarly resources available elsewhere in Hong Kong and around the world.
Museum, Art Galleries and Cultural Facilities
The Art Museum regularly showcases the gems of ancient and pre-modern Chinese art. Sir Run Run Shaw Hall is home to the culture and arts programmes of the Office of the Arts Administrator, while the CU Culture Trail highlights the cultural aspects of our campus.
Sports Facilities & Amenities
Fun and fitness provide much-needed balance to work and study. CUHK and its Colleges offer a wide variety of sports facilities, including stadiums, gymnasia, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, weight training rooms and a Water Sports Centre. The Colleges also provide barbecue sites for hire by staff and students.
