“The Burden of Group B Streptococcus Worldwide for Pregnant Women, Stillbirths, and Children” Supplement Series
The supplement series on “The Burden of Group B Streptococcus Worldwide for Pregnant Women, Stillbirths, and Children” was recently published in the Clinical Infectious Diseases. With 103 authors and more than 30 institutions involved, this collection of 11 research papers by the GBS Study Team and Expert Advisory Group is the first global analysis of the burden of GBS disease, an infection that affects 21.7 million women causing maternal and infant cases and at least 147,000 deaths, especially of newborns (Clinical Infectious Diseases, Volume 65, Issue suppl_2, 6 November 2017).
As the key researcher for Asian countries and the Asian spokesperson for this study, Prof Margaret Ip of our Department of Microbiology welcomes anyone interested in future collaboration in this field of research.
