International guidance for the management of pregnant women during COVID-19

Different clinical guidelines, including the management of pregnant women, have been developed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Since pregnancy is a physiological state that predisposes women to viral respiratory infection, pregnant women require special attention in relation to the prevention, diagnosis and management of this disease. The statement “Global interim guidance on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during pregnancy and puerperium from FIGO and allied partners: Information for healthcare professionals” incorporated suggestions issued by the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics and other health organizations. It focused on 4 main areas including antenatal care in outpatient clinics, assessment of women in obstetrical triage, intrapartum management and postpartum and neonatal care.
