Asian consensus of diagnostic upper endoscopy for early upper GI cancers

Currently, there is no global consensus on the use of diagnostic upper endoscopy to recognise and characterise early gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, especially from Asia where upper GI cancers are highly prevalent. “An Asian consensus on standards of diagnostic upper endoscopy for neoplasia” is developed by a group of expert endoscopists to standardise the preparation, process and endoscopic procedural steps for diagnosis of early upper GI cancers. With this consensus, the quality of endoscopic diagnosis and detection of early upper GI cancers will be enhanced (Gut. 2018 Nov 12. pii: gutjnl-2018-317111. doi: 10.1136/gutjnl-2018-317111. Prof Chiu is an recognized expert in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and his research interest is in the early diagnosis and treatment of upper GI cancers.
