A big Data collaboration with PIONEER
Prostate cancer, with over 1.4 million new cases and nearly 400 thousand deaths annually, ranks as the second most prevalent cancer and the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men globally. In order to improve prostate cancer management, CU Medicine joined the PIONEER Big Data platform and we provide observational data from our Prostate Cancer Registry. The registry includes data from 2,000 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer of all stages collected since 2016. This collaboration signifies the start of extended cooperation between Europe and Asia in this field and it helps closing critical evidence gaps in prostate cancer by analysing large sets of real-world data.
Anyone interested in future collaboration in this field of research, you are welcome to contact our key investigator Dr. Jeremy Teoh in Department of Surgery, CUHK. Dr Teoh’s research focuses on Urological Cancer, endoscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery.
