The carnival was one of the key events held to celebrate the School’s Silver Jubilee Anniversary.  As a salute to the Nethersole spirit of compassionate care for the elderly, the carnival aimed to motivate alumni and students of the School to contribute their expertise to serve the elderly and promote intergenerational solidarity in the community, and so strengthen their civic and social responsibilities. It also offered an invaluable opportunity for alumni to reunite.

Healthcare government officials and many other local nursing leaders came to show their support.  Officiating guests include Dr. Wing-man KO, Secretary for Food and Health, HKSAR Government and Prof. Sophia CHAN, Under Secretary for Food and Health, HKSAR Government. They were joined with Prof. Joseph SUNG, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK; Prof. Francis CHAN, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Sek-ying CHAIR, Director of the Nethersole School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine; and Dr. Che-hung LEONG, Chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Nethersole School of Nursing.

Over the past 25 years, the School has nurtured nearly 5,000 graduates, many of whom have assumed leadership positions in the profession, making important contributions to the health of people and nursing development in Hong Kong. There are also many graduates who have made remarkable achievements in other areas, such as education, research, social service, and sports and arts. In recognition of their contributions to the nursing profession and society, the School especially set up ‘The Nethersole School of Nursing 25th Anniversary Outstanding Alumni Award’.
