Li Bai's "Bringing in the wine" 《將進酒》vividly expresses his upset about his talents not being recognised. It also denotes his sorrow about the shortness of life. Along the poem there are melancholy of serving the country without a way and lament of time fast passing, which leads to the poet's drinking for relieving sadness. The style of the whole writing is soaring and elegant, boundless and unrestrained, natural and magnificent. Rhetorical techniques also emerge in many ways, such as the Yellow River as a metaphor for the perishability of life, which contrasts sharply to the shortness, insignificance, and fragility of man's life.

This stunning impressionistic artwork captures the beauty of a sunset over Victoria Harbor, as seen from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. The piece showcases two iconic skyscrapers that embody Hong Kong's role as a global financial hub. The sun's radiant light permeates the sky, creating a mesmerizing blend of golden, orange, and Venetian red hues that are truly awe-inspiring.
The artist's powerful strokes and brushwork masterfully contrast the sky and sea, while a detailed rendering of the city's renowned architecture serves as a horizontal divider. This juxtaposition accentuates the natural beauty of the harbor against the man-made structures that define the city's skyline.
In our fast-paced lives, it's easy to overlook moments of beauty like this. But this artwork offers a permanent reminder of the breathtaking scenery that Hong Kong has to offer.

Professor J.A. Gosling was a highly respected and beloved anatomy teacher at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He was known for his engaging lectures, his passion for his subject, and his ability to inspire his students to pursue the study of Anatomy.
The use of LAMY® copper-orange ink on TomoeRiver ® Sakae Technical Paper creates a striking and dynamic background that complements the ink pen sketch of the portrait. The result is a work of art that captures Professor Gosling's charisma and energy, as well as the impact he had on his students and colleagues.
It's worth noting that the idea for this artwork came from MBChB Class 2000 and MBChB 2001 that were deeply influenced by Professor Gosling and wanted to honor his memory in a meaningful way. The fact that this art piece was a collaborative effort underscores the powerful impact that Professor Gosling had on the people around him, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
We would also like to thank Club Qing Whisky Bar to make this project possible.
